Disinfectant is one of the materials that can be used to inactivate pathogenic microorganisms, but most disinfectants in community are made from synthetic chemicals harmful environment. The purpose this study was synthesize and evaluate antimicrobial activity silver (Ag) nanoparticles-mangosteen rind extract as an active ingredient environmentally friendly disinfectant formula. synthesis process nanoparticles carried out by adding a bioreductant mangosteen into 0.01 M AgNO3 solution precursor with variation : bioreductor volume ratio 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:5, 1:6, respectively. results analysis UV-Vis spectroscopy showed had good stability. decrease absorption peak FTIR spectrum at wave number 3390.86 cm-1 indicates contribution –OH group compound reduction nanoparticles. PSA digital microscopy diameter synthesized 1:1 82.33 nm. test mixture silver-mangosteen composition best deactivating gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus gram-negative Escherichia coli bacteria. indicate also ingredients for liquid disinfectants.
